I am so sad and surprised to hear of Mrs. Ray's passing. She was always bigger than life to me! Mr, Ray, how brave you and Mrs. Ray were to haul a bunch of teenagers around the globe for so many years.

I can still hear her like it was yesterday (even though it was 30 years ago) "Girls you're behind the music!" or "Come up front girls and watch Hattie (Grunland) do it" or listening to her boast about how she was doing her barre work in the halls of the hospital as she's about to deliver her babies.

She was always the professional and her high standards have made it very difficult for me to find a decent ballet school for my own daughter! I loved her compassionate heart for those who live in such difficult circumstances and how important it was for her students to experience it.

Thank you Mr. Ray for sending the beautiful Christmas card with her picture. God Bless your family.

Good bye Ma Ray, You a second mother to me and many others. You have taught me more than dance. You will always be remembered because you gave me so many memories. You took a scared boy around the world and made him a good man. Every time I reminisce of my teens and twenties you will be there in my heart and my stories. Heaven has gained a great woman and we are all better because of you. God Bless.

Dear Family of Shirley:
What a lovely and fitting ceremony for your wife and Mommy. It was certainly a story to let all of us feel closer to such a beautiful woman who was so vibrant and lived life to the fullest.
Even tho we have known Shirley for many years it was only this last year that we got to know her a little better. I loved hearing stories of your family travels across the country. She was a sport and I can see that nothing held her back when she wanted to do something. Her love for all of you and bringing others into your family was no problem. I can see that all of you were good sports together and full of adventure also. The loss is great and it will be hard, but you do have a wonderful Daddy. Hang in there and let the happy memories help you thru your down times. And Charlie, Bob always enjoys your company. Next breakfast is on us and we'll do that soon.
Love to all of you, you are a beautiful family,
Bob and Phyllis

Dear Charles and Family,
My deepest sympathy to all of you as you cope with the loss of dear Shirley. I enjoyed working with you both as your insurance agent and always looked forward to hearing about the next trip her troupe would be making. She was a very talented, artistic and gracious lady who was loved by her students and those who had the opportunity to know her.
You are in my prayers.
Sincerely,
Lynn Pritchett

There just aren't the words to express how much I admired and respected Mrs. Ray. She became my ballet teacher when I was seven years old but she was also a lot more than that to me. She and Mr. Ray welcomed me into their family as if I were one of their own through ballet and through the friendships that I had as a teenager with David, Alicia, and Sabrina. Through ballet she taught me discipline, commitment, and compassion. She was truly a special person to me and so many other people. She will forever have a special place in my heart. All my love, thanks, and condolences to Mr. Ray and the entire Ray family.
