My sincere condolences Carol and your family for Joe's passing.
When I first worked for him in the basement of the old library, he was an integral part of my education as both an engineer and as an adult. We spent many an hour discussing all aspects of our profession and of life. He was more than a mentor, he was more than a boss. In later years, as my career grew in the Napa County flood and water arena, I often sought his counsel referring back to his sage advise given 20 years prior. A few times I called upon him to spread his vast knowledge on flood and water subjects through local speaking engagements. It is a bit ironic that today the County will dedicate a vital part of the Napa flood control project by dedicating the flood bypass park. During my tenure as one of the engineers planning the project, I recalled his advise to me that the bypass needed to be a "dry" one rather than a "wet" one. When I advocated such in the 1990"s, the Army Corp put up a considerable argument but eventually relented. My years working for Joe, Herb, Ted and Jim were some of my most memorable. Somehow I feel the Napa community is a little less certain these days largely caused by a void left from the passing of men like Joe. My apologies for not being able to attend his service today as I am out of town. Love and prayers to you all, Myke Praul.

Hello Myke-
Thank you so much for this note sharing about Dad and the wonderful relationship you had. I hadn't seen it until now. I will share it with Mom and the rest of the family too. It means a lot to all of us to read and hear how he shared his knowledge and guidance with so many that he met. I'll also never look at the new flood bypass the same way again. Ann

I have such happy memories of Joe as I was growing up and his trips to Texas and ours to California. God has another Angel and Know there were many to greet him!

We are all sad to hear of the loss of Mr. Reynolds and others. My family and I have many fond memories of a wonderful man and family that we spent time with in years past. Our hearts go out to you all and may peace be with you.
