Welcome to the memorial page for

Jeanette Parker

October 8, 1930 ~ May 5, 2015 (age 84) 84 Years Old

Jeanette Parker passed away Monday, May 5 at Queen of the Valley Hospital, attended by her husband of 62 years and her daughter.

Jeanette was born in Brooklyn, New York on October 8, 1930 to James and Margaret Burnett. Jeanette was the sixth child in a family that included five stepbrothers and sisters and one sister. She graduated high school and pursued her considerable talent as a seamstress and pattern drafter at the New York Fashion Institute. Jeanette then worked drafting patterns for the Butterick Company. Through mutual friends she met her future husband, Everett Parker, and they married on November 22, 1952. Everett pursued his 33 year career with the New York City Police Department, and Jeanette enjoyed life as a homemaker, lovingly caring for her husband and their daughter, Jean.

After Everett retired from the police department, he and Jeanette decided to go west to Napa, California to be near their daughter and new grandson. Jeanette and Everett spent seventeen precious years with their daughter and two young grandsons. They both enjoyed living in Napa and quickly found a circle of dear friends. Everett wrote popular weekly columns and occasional sports columns for the The Napa Valley Register for fifteen years. Jeanette was a devout member of St. Apollinaris Catholic Church and volunteered her time and talents as much as possible. She also enjoyed art classes sponsored by the Napa Senior Center, but most of all, enjoyed caring for her family, and particularly her role as grandmother.

Jeanette is survived by her husband Everett, her daughter, Jean Cramer, and her grandsons Robert and Philip Snowden. She will be profoundly missed by her family and her friends, both in New York and Napa.

A memorial mass will be held on Wednesday, May 13, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Apollinaris Catholic Church, 3700 Lassen Street, Napa, with a reception to follow.
