I knew him as a coach, but being the son of two teachers, I know dedication and personal investment when I see it. Keith was a kind man and a role model.

I'm so sorry to hear of Coach Orr's passing, although I do know that this man will be carried swiftly to heaven. I enjoyed my days in gym class with Mr. Orr at Napa High and remember one scolding from him during the rope climb test. When I was near the top of the rope I turned myself upside down to touch the top with my foot, as he was timing my climb. Coach scrambled in attempt to catch me because he thought I was falling. His words were brief, something like, Steiner! Don't ever do that again! You scared the heck out of me. And by the way, you should consider collegian, competition, rope climbing. What a great guy he was.
Our thoughts are with you from your Steiner family neighbors.

Keith, you will always be remembered as a living example of the Holy Spirit which pervaded every pore of your being. I can hardly imagine the welcome that awaited you as you walked into the presence of God's Love and all those who have preceded you in the great final journey. Your life touched thousands and we were all made better by it.

What can I say, but simply:I loved Coach Orr! I have always remembered him.... He impacted so many lives for the positive! What a good man he was and he holds a special place in the hearts of those he touched! My husband Greg also knew "Coach" both from Napa High and the Presbyterian Church, he was a special man. We both want to offer our deepest sympathy and pray that Our Saviour gives you strength, comfort and peace...

I had the pleasure of working with Coach when I became a P.E. teacher at Redwood during the last 6 years of my 40 year teaching career. All that has been said about Keith in these posts, I experienced working with him when he subbed at Redwood, which he did a lot. He was a true partner and team player and I remember how he was always there in the early mornings to help me set up and set out the equipment for the day's activities. He even showed up extra early to help set up for special events in the P.E. Dept. such as the annual triathlon. He was so much more than a substitute teacher and would tackle any assignment that we wouldn't dare to ask a "normal sub." to do. An example is taking the mic and the lead in teaching students a square dance. I learned so many things from working with coach that went a long way toward making me feel like a competent and accomplished physical education teacher. He was a true friend to me and the students, a wonderful human being. He left the world a better place through his commitment to his values, beliefs, accomplishments and dedication. He was a "teacher" in every sense of the word.

Dear Doris and family,
Keith was always on alert to find my dad and I as we attended first Pres. Please know what a great impact he had on my dad during his final years. He made dad feel "at home" and so welcome.
Your loss is huge. I know the GOD of all comfort will walk with you.
love you!

He was truly the Rock of Keith. No one; not babies, kids, teenagers, newlyweds, mothers, fathers, grandparents, elders got by him without a hearty smile, handshake, hug, smile and "glad to see you". Thank you for teaching the rest of us how. I am sure you are already greeting newbies in Heaven! You touched so many, we'll always remember you. Love to your family.

Jerry and I were so sorry to hear about Keith's passing. He and his family were such great neighbors and friends and we have many fond memories of them when we were neighbors. Napa and it's youth were so fortunate to have him in their lives.
Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this time. The Hofackets

Keith was such a loving presence at First Presbyterian Church, as Head Usher for many years, for both services, Keith welcomed each and every person to church on Sunday with hand-shakes, hugs, special words of encouragement. These loving moments were offered to about 300 people every Sunday. Keith believed in kindness, recognition of a person's specialness, commitment, working hard, and God. He was a great comfort to be around. Love to Doris and the family. I, like Jere, look forward to shaking Keith's hand when I get to heaven.

I'll never forget his smile! Thank you for sharing your husband, dad, grandfather, he brought so much to the children of Napa. He was definitely one of the good ones!
He was my PE teacher so many years ago, and then when my own boys went to high school, they'd tell me about their substitute teacher. He always "remembered" me. He'd never admit if he didn't. I loved that!
I'll truly miss him. I'll be thinking about your family and sending good thoughts. I hope you know all of the good he did!

it was always a good day at Silverado M.S. when Coach Orr was subbing because he always dropped by my classroom to say hello and share his infectious smille! I loved that he loved kids. Life is rough for a sub but he always had a positive attitude, just as I remembered him in high school. He will be missed.

Just wanted to say to the family that I always thought of Keith Orr as a very class act. I took tennis lessons in summer school in 1969 at Napa High from him. Then, Justin Junior Varsity basketball in 1972, we missed a "first win" against Napa High by one point. He made a point of coming up to us Justin players and telling us what a great game it was and how tough we were. He didn't have to do that, but you knew it came from his heart. In the late 1990's, when I lived on Newark Street in Napa, we had a block garage sale and he came into my garage to look around and we struck up a long conversation about the 1970's and all the great sports rivalries in the Valley. A good, sincere, caring, and thoughtful man was Keith Orr. Please know that Keith and his family will be in our prayers.
