Dorothy Pinter, 91, (May 28, 1923-Jan. 9, 2015), was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, graduating from Brooklyn Hospital School for Nurses as a Registered Nurse. In her career, she worked as a Public Health Nurse in New York, and a hospital and geriatric nurse in California. She worked for many years at Roberts Nursing Home in Napa.
On Sept. 4, 1950, she married Henry Pinter in Santa Barbara. They have been Napa residents since 1956. Through the years, she has been an active volunteer in League of Women Voters, the Democratic Caucus, ALDEA, the Table, Covenant Presbyterian Church, and Friends of the Library.
Her heart wore out and Dorothy passed away peacefully at home in Hospice Care. She leaves behind husband Henry (Hank); children Nancy Moore, Margaret Pinter, John Pinter, Victoria Kleine; grandchildren Kate Moore, Steven Moore, Diana Pinter; and sister Muriel Hastings.
Some of her last words were, “When I’m gone, don’t mourn me, rejoice.”
In accordance with her request, no services are planned. Rememberances in her name might be directed to a charity such as Heifer International, Habitat for Humanity, or a local organization.
