Mrs.Connell was my kindergarten teacher back in 1959 at Bel Aire School. It's so incredible that the ITL program that she developed was used to teach my own kids phonics and help them be excellent readers. I remember her well. This was back in the days of kindergarten being graham crackers and milk....naps on mats that we brought from home in the middle of the day. I remember several things about her....how she helped me when I fell and skinned my knee, playing on a turtle shaped jungle gym in the playground, how she helped me when I couldn't figure out how to sit by my two best friends at the same time by putting one on each side of me.....(ah, the mind of kindergartner....) Thanks for being my first teacher and one that I truly loved.

Mrs. Connell was my kindergarten teacher in the late 1950s. I remember quite a few things about my year with her, all of them positive. It was interesting to read what a lovely and accomplished woman she was. May she rest in peace

I was fortunate to meet and get to know Donna when she worked as an aide/consultant/volunteer in Jana Jacks' first grade classroom at Pueblo Vista Elementary School in Napa. I was serving in my capacity as a school psychologist, and Donna would ask to borrow some standardized tests to check children's skills and progress. Usually that is not allowable, but it was not easy to say no to Donna. Besides, I knew that she would use the results wisely, and only had the best interests of children at heart. She had keen determination, and training and skills that we were fortunate to have shared with us. She was a blessing to our community, and I will always be grateful to her for her help, and to Jana for keeping me informed over the years about her health and circumstances. May she rest in peace.

Steve and I saw Donna's obituary today in the Register. . . .
We want to express our condolences to you and all the family.
We can be heartened by the fact that Donna lived such a rich and full life.
She made this world a better place as she will her next adventure, I'm sure.
