Dear Lynch Family & Friends:
Carl Lynch was a great friend and a well-respected civil engineer. I will never forget the day when he rang the doorbell of my residence 41 years ago, holding a bottle of Champaign to congratulate me on passing the Professional Engineer’s (P.E.) exam. He was always kind and generous in my professional dealings with him when he was Engineer-Manager of Napa Sanitation District (NSD). Carl was a practical and true environmentalist. He was able to obtain Federal grants to eliminate dumping of raw sewage into the Napa River, which until then, was regularly used for dumping overflows from the sewer lines.
Carl never wanted to be in the limelight for his many accomplishments throughout his career as City Engineer/Public Works Director at City of Napa and as Engineer-Manager of Napa Sanitation District. Yet, he pioneered many historic accomplishments for the benefit of our community. He also served as president of the Napa Engineers Society, an organization of public sector engineers and private sector engineers founded approximately 60 years ago to better serve the public.
Carl was always fun to be with and will be fondly remembered of all of us who knew him.
