Arlette Genevieve Smith succumbed peacefully after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s Disease on January 11, 2017. Born in Epernay, France May 7, 1940, she moved to Palo Alto, CA with her family at the age of six and later to Napa at the age of 14 where she graduated from Napa High in 1958. It was there that her passion for riding horses through the country lanes led her to meet the love of her life, Donald Smith, whom she was married to for over 50 years.
Arlette’s smile and openness was contagious whether she was a majorette for the San Francisco 49ers, 4-H leader with her children, Physical Therapy Aide with Napa Valley Physical Therapy for nearly 25 years, or just walking her dogs through the neighborhood. She enjoyed spending time with her family at the coast, gardening in her yard, dancing, and watching her grandchildren grow.
Arlette was predeceased by her parents, Dale and Antoinette Van Cleave, and her loving husband, Donald. She is survived by her son, Perry Smith and wife Pam, her daughter Lisa Storer and husband Curtis; grandchildren: Riley, Natalie, Garrett, and Finnegan.
She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. A private burial service was held. Donations may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association. Memories may be shared at www.tulocaycemetery.org.
