August 31, 1944 ~ March 28, 2015 (age 70) 70 Years Old

Toni Holland

Surrounded by love, Toni Holland, age 70, moved on from this world March 28, 2015 due to complications of post-polio syndrome.

Toni was born August 31, 1944 to Albert and Pauline Williams in Vallejo, California. She grew up in the “Little Italy” neighborhood of downtown Napa right around the corner from her lifelong friend “Tina” Bennett. Toni went to St. John’s Catholic school, graduated from Napa high school in 1962, and graduated from San Francisco State University with her Bachelor’s degree. Toni contracted polio at a young age and was told that she probably wouldn’t be able to walk, go to college, drive or be able to have children. (She sure showed them!)

While home from college at a New Years Eve house party (That her parents didn’t know about), Toni met the man she would spend the next 47 years with. From that evening on they were rarely apart. Paul and Toni were married on April 16, 1972. Together Toni and Paul raised three children; Brandi, Samantha and JR.

Toni worked full time as an Eligibility Worker with Napa County Health & Human Services for 25 years. Toni also worked at Napa Valley College as a Financial Aid Worker before retiring to open H & H Design in 1995 with Paul. Together they successfully ran the retail store and tile installation company for 16 years.

Toni was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Pauline Williams; brother, Thomas (TJ) Williams; Mother in law, Marjorie Mitchell; Aunt and Uncle, Paul and Jeanette Squicciarini; Aunt, Shirley Jones; Sister in laws, Sharon Alfaro and Janet McVay;  Sister and Brother in law, Charlotte and Ron Freeman; Nieces, Dana Huddleston, Jamie Luport and Stacie Roe; and nephew, John Freeman.

She is survived by her loving & devoted husband Paul (Bud) Holland; Children, Brandi (Jeff) Scheimer, Samantha Holland and JR (Bryna) Holland; Grandsons, Chris, Max and Anthony Scheimer, Paul Holland and Lukas Wagner; Father in Law, Cecil Mitchell; Brother in Law James (Margo) Holland; Cousin, Kerin Baker; Nieces & Nephews, James (Sue) Freeman, Kimberly (Dan) Cross; Rachelle (Glenn) Lorton, Rebecca Huddleston, Katie (Thad) Armitage, Tracie (Tim) Davis, Greg Luport, Ron Roe, Heather Holland, Andy (Jenn) Balaguy, Megan Balaguy and Michael Williams and numerous great nieces and nephews. Toni is also survived by her lifelong friends, Tina (Tom) Bennett; her beloved dogs, Gus, Pete and Lily; and many, great friends.

At Toni’s request, there will be no funeral service. Family and friends are invited to come celebrate Toni’s life at a casual gathering at the Yountville Community Center on April 12, 2015 at Noon.  You can also leave condolence messages for the family at www.tulocaycemetery.org.

Special thanks to Kaiser Hospice, Vallejo for their help & support. The family suggests donations in Toni’s name be made to Post Polio Health International which can be found at post-polio.org or the charity of your choice.
