MARY LAUGHTON

1936-2015

Mary Frances (Patrick) Laughton died on November 14, 2015. She was born in Napa on July 12, 1936, to Roy L. and Phyllis (Patison) Patrick. She attended Napa schools and graduated from Napa High School in 1954. She attended Oregon State University where she met her husband William M. Laughton Jr. They married on December 27, 1955, living in several states while he served in the U.S. Air Force prior to setting up residence in Napa in 1957.

Mary worked at Napa State Hospital as a secretary for 12 years and then chose to stay at home to raise their three children. In 1977 she returned to the workforce as a secretary at the Napa County Office of Education. She retired from there in 1999 as secretary to the Napa County Superintendent of Schools.

She most enjoyed her annual stays at the family cabin on Uncha Lake in northern British Columbia, a compound started by her parents in 1950. This site was her “second home.”

She was predeceased by her husband William M. Laughton Jr. She is survived by her children, William M. Laughton, III, of Napa; Barbara (Shawn) Casey of San Jose; Stacy (William) Mason of Maui; and grandsons Daniel, Jason and Justin Casey. She is also survived by her sister Peggy (Van) Vandehey and numerous nieces and nephews.

Donations may be made to the Roy L. and Phyllis M. Patrick Scholarship Fund at Napa Valley College.
