LORRAINE FRANCES EMBERLEY

1943-2016

Lorraine Emberley, 72, was born in Quincy Massachusetts. She was the third of six children born to Raymond and Alice Tourigny.  Growing up she loved to play the accordion. Lorraine attended Weymouth High School and graduated in 1961. In 1963, she met Roger Emberley, the love of her life. They were married and soon after were blessed with two children.

In 1964 Lorraine moved west with her husband. They settled in San Rafael where Lorraine stayed very active raising her two children, and in 1974 the family re-located to Napa, California. It was there that Lorraine worked as a teacher’s aide for several years. She never lost her desire to help others, so she decided to go back to school and pursue her true passion, teaching.

In 1988, Lorraine graduated from Sonoma State University. For over 25 years Lorraine worked, as a teacher for the Napa Valley Unified School District. She played a huge role in shaping the lives of many children. She was loved, respected and admired by her peers.

After retirement Lorraine continued to be an active member of museums and garden clubs. She was an avid gardener, loved the outdoors and never missed the opportunity to break out in song. What Lorraine will be remembered the most for is being a true friend, a devote listener and one who always thought of others before herself. She treasured her time with friends, family and especially those special moments with her grandchildren.

Those left to cherish Lorraine’s memory include her husband, Roger; children Christopher Emberley and Tracey Emberley; grandchildren Ashlyn and Kayley Emberley; brothers: Raymond, David, and Charlie Tourigny and sister Diane Towle; as well as numerous friends and family.

A celebration of life and blessing will be held for Lorraine on Friday June 17 from 1pm to 4pm at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church hall located at 960 Caymus Street in Napa. Following the celebration there will be a mass held in the church at 5pm, for those who wish to attend.

In lieu of flowers the family would like to honor the eternal teacher Lorraine was. Her family would like to establish a scholarship fund in the hope that these funds will keep her legacy alive and inspiration thriving. Lorraine’s family wishes to assist future huge hearted educators to follow in her loving footsteps. Donations can be given to her son Chris Emberley 7875 Polo Crosse Ave Sacramento CA 95829.  Memories may be shared with the family on-line at www.tulocaycemetery.org.
