Timothy - Malenko

Timothy Malenko - born January 2, 1921, died January 1, 2015. Tim was born south of Kiev in Ukraine. He survived Soviet collective farming and Nazi labor camps, slipping into Allied territory at the conclusion of WW II and then immigrating to Venezuela where he married Antonina Malenko (Lubianka). Their son Viktor was born in Venzuela. Shortly there after, the family moved to Canada where their second child, Irena, was born. Within four years they immigrated to Napa, California where their third child Lidia was born. Tim was a welder for 24 years at Kaiser Steel/Napa Pipe and enjoyed the rural nature of Napa that reminded Tim and Nina of their youth. Tim was a longtime treasurer of St Michaels Ukrainian Orthodox Church, San Francisco, and an avid fisherman.

Tim's wife, Nina Malenko, preceeded him in death by four days. Tim is survived by his children: Viktor Malenko, Bridgeview IL; Irena Miles, Fairfield CA; Lidia Bertalotto, Napa CA; and grandchildren Hugh Miles III, Natasha Malenko, Georgia Bertalotto and Timothy Bertalotto. The family is uncertain if there are surviving relatives in Ukraine.
