LILLIE RIDDLE

1923-2015

Lillie LaVerne Riddle, 91, died peacefully March 11, 2015.  She was born June  24, 1923 in Talihina, Oklahoma to Orville and Gladys Lamon. 

A resident of Napa for almost 80 years, she saw many changes in the Valley.  She was a caring  person and devoted mother whose love of her family always came first.  She was a fiercely independent  woman who met all of life's challenges with grace and humor.  As a young widow with four children, she demonstrated that life goes on and one must embrace their circumstances, and go forward.

She will be missed by all those who knew her, heard her stories, saw her smile and heard her laugh.

She is survived by her children, George Asbury, Jim Asbury, Linda Asbury and Gay Ayers; grandchildren, Mike, Ed, Lori, Julie, Kelly, Courtney, Denise, Leslie, and Kim; and great grandchildren, Emma, Marcus, Kiana, Zack, Brendan, Ian, Cole, Abby, Corbin and Jamis; also close family, Rose Asbury and family, and Dewey Jones and family.

She was predeceased by her husband, Merrill Riddle, daughter, Joyce Childress and the father of her children, Chester Asbury.

A graveside service will be held at 11am, Monday, March 16, 2015 at Tulocay Cemetery.  Memorials contributions may be made to Hospice of Napa Valley, 414 S. Jefferson St. Napa, CA 94559.  Memories and words of sympathy may be shared with the family on-line at www.tulocaycemetery.org.
