Kay Frances (Ouellette) Scherzinger

Kay Frances (Ouellette) Scherzinger, age 83, passed away in her home on September 29th. Kay was born in Fall River, Massachusetts on June 10, 1934 to Edward and Nellie Ouellette. She was the youngest of 4 children, and is survived by her oldest sister, Eleonor Schofield. Her brothers, Edward and Robert, pre-deceased her.

Kay graduated from Bradford Durfee Technical Institute and received a Bachelor of Science in Advertising Design. She was a talented artist, and used her talents at an ad agency in New York City. Eventually Kay decided to pursue teaching, her career for 25 years.

Kay was married to her husband, Dennis, for 57 years. She met her husband, Dennis, at a Newport Jazz Club. They were married 3 months later and moved to Cuba while he served in the Navy. While in Cuba, Kay taught 3rd grade. Eventually, they settled in California, where Kay taught at the Adult School in Vallejo.

Kay was very active in the Community. She was a Boy Scout leader, as well as a Girl Scout leader. When they moved to Napa, she was a volunteer at the Napa Visitors Center. She and her husband enjoyed racing their Lido 14, sailing around the San Francisco Bay, and in the Bahamas and Mexico. They traveled to numerous countries, as well as various states within the USA. Kay also enjoyed cross country skiing.

She leaves behind her son, Kurt Scherzinger and his wife, Sharon; her daughter, Kristi Scherzinger and her husband, Jeff Heinitz; and her grandchildren, Erik, Tyler, Evan, Madeline and Cameron; her sister Eleanor Schofield; brother-in-law, Warren Adams and his wife, Mary. Kay was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and her husband, Dennis.

Donations in Kay’s memory can be made to Collabria Care in Napa, or any organization you wish. A celebration of Kay’s life will be held at their family home in Napa on Saturday October 28th from 1-4.
