JANE ELLEN WEST

1963-2016

Our most cherished, Jane Ellen West left peacefully September 11, 2016 to go fishing with her beloved father, Francis Joseph West “Pops” “Papa”.  She leaves her two loving sons, Jacob Begnal and Kevin Begnal along with their father Stephen Begnal. She will be dearly missed by her siblings: Patti Wilkerson, Jim West, Mary West, Kathryn Weslow. and their mother Elisabeth Anne West.

Jane had multiple careers. Along with working in male dominated trades at Mare Island, she pioneered being the first woman at Calistoga Water.  Her altruistic heart changed many lives when she worked for Napa County as a Substance Abuse Counselor.  With Jane's entrepreneurial spirit, she owned and operated a Hot Dog business where she catered at many Napa Valley Events.

Her dedication to hard work and her children, manifested a creativity that all people don't have.  One Christmas Season, she had the boys climbing trees, harvesting mistletoe to sell for everyone's enjoyment.  Jane had a green thumb when growing giant pumpkins!   And, if a car needed to be fixed, her mechanical skills were very impressive!

Jane's celebration of life will held at Kennedy Park, Napa, CA on Sunday, September 25, 2016 at 1p.m.  Please join us in celebrating Janie's life and giving back to her, the love she has for so many of us.  Pot luck style.  Memories may be shared on-line at www.tulocaycemetery.org.  Memorial contributions may be made to V.OICES, https://onthemove.thankyou4caring.org/donatetovoices

I heard my mother's voice asking Janie to come down from the that tree!  I looked across the back yard to see Jane, three maybe four years old, making her way across a limb that was hanging  15-20 feet over the backyard fence. She slowly climbed down the tree and brushed a few twigs from her hair.  They were getting in way.  Always with a simplistic and  fearless calm.  Jane continued her journey to see what wonders this world had in store for her.

Her passion in this life time was raising her two boys. She did this to perfection. Janie's courage, love, sense of humor, integrity, and compassion lives on with Jacob and Kevin. She nurtured their sense of self and they carry her altruistic beliefs. Jane was, and these young men, have become a paragon of humanity.

Jane and I will forever have an everlasting honor among sisters. Our differences, likes and dislikes, were always exterior to a bond like no other. I will always be eternally grateful, to have had those days, to say the words I love you to her, and her to me.  I will miss our shenanigans the most.
