Henry Muska

Henry Jerry Muska, of Napa, California, died peacefully on September 14th, 2016 at the age of 93 at Vacaville California.

Henry was born April 13th, 1923 in Prague, Czechoslovakia, the son of the late Henry and Vlasta Uritski Muska.  He served honorably in the US Army Infantry during World War II and afterward received his bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Minnesota.  IN 1951 he accepted a position at the Mare Island Naval Shipyard where he spent the majority of his working years as a nuclear engineer.   He retired in 1977 after more than 26 years of service at Mare Island and later spent eight years as a consultant for the US Navy.  He held licenses in California as a nuclear engineer and quality assurance engineer, and was past president of the National Naval Engineers and Architects Association.   Henry was a member, along with his beloved wife Virginia, of the Napa valley Country Club, the Napa “Elks, and Napa SIRS branch 80.  On January 7th, 1983 hemarried the former Virginia May Forrest.

He was a proud father, “grandpa,” avid golfer, outdoorsman, Teller of Tall Fish Tales and wanted to marry every nurse he met.  He loved to play chess and had done some blacksmithing in the past.  We will miss his charm, wit and intelligence.

Henry was preceded in death by his parents, lovely wife Virginia, sister Vlasta and daughter-in-law Georgie.

He is survived by his son Henry “Hank” Muska and wife Lucille of Maple Falls, Washington; his daughter Debra Shimel and husband Dale of Silverdale, Washington; his grandson Jimmy Goldgruber-that he raised from a young age; his grandchildren Sarah of Ventura, California & Josef of Houston, Texas; Victoria and husband Andrew and Laura also of Silverdale, Washington.

The family asks that memorials be made to any organization that aids disadvantaged children or to the charity of the donor’s choice per Henry’s request.  A memorial service/gathering will be announced at a future date.
