David "Sonny" Martinez

David “Sonny” Martinez known to many as “Sonny”, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2015 at the age of 78. Born in New Mexico to Frances Solis, David spent most of his early years in Yountville, California before making a home in Concord, California. After serving in the U.S. Navy, he started working in the construction industry. He would go on to start his own construction company, which was a life long goal.

He enjoyed going to A’s games, playing golf and watching all sports. Some of his favorite moments were spent being “Papa” to his many grandchildren. He loved his daily walks with his dog Sammy.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary; son David (Gail) Martinez of Brentwood; and daughters Toni (Gary) O’Brien of Concord; Jenny (Steve) of Clayton; and Sunny Martinez of Concord; grandchildren Sarah Consani; Stephanie Williams; Jennifer Martinez; Keith Martinez; Katie Woerner and Nick O’Brien; great-grandchildren, Eric and Camille Williams; and Roman Consani. Brothers Ross (Barbara); Ruben; Rene; Rolando and sisters Jenny and Rose; proceeded in death by sisters Lala and Mary, survived by many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on October 3, 2015 at 11am at the Tulocay Cemetery and Funeral Home, 411 Combsville Road, Napa, California with reception to follow. Words of sympathy may be sent to the family online at www.tulocaycemetery.org
