Jim, I will always remember the fun days we had in
Richmond high, I always loved watching you practicing baseball after school. I was so proud to hear that you played with the White Sox.

I'm deeply saddened to hear of Jim's passing and I hope the entire Landis family realizes what a great effect Jim had on scores of kids in the Napa Valley. The most fun I ever had playing a sport was playing Babe Ruth baseball for Jim in the summer of 1973. I'll never forget Jim regularly driving all over Napa picking up kids and taking us to Silverado Junior High where he threw batting practice to us for hours on end. Imagine, a Gold-Glove winning, Major League Baseball player picking us up at our homes and spending that kind of time with us. I'll never forget the stories he told and life lessons he taught. We were mesmerized. I'll also never forget that Jim and Sandy were at every baseball, basketball and football game that we played. I bet they didn't miss a single one. What a great family! My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Jim was a wonderful man.

Sandy: I met you and Jim only once through our mutual friend Sandy Carroll. I was so thrilled to meet a real major league baseball player and see an authentic Gold Glove award! You and Jim were so welcoming and friendly that Sandy and I always felt welcome at your home. I lost Sandy two years ago so I know your grief. May the love of so many people keep you strong.

" Children's children are the crown of old men; and the glory of children are their fathers." Proverbs 17:6 My condolence to the Landis Family. I went to my first Chicago White Sox game in 1958 as a cub scout, fell in love with the team and have been going to games for 59 years. Jim was a fan favorite.

So sorry to hear about your dad Craig. I know that grief is hard and difficult as I lost my dad 3 years ago and my mom last November. Just know that the amount of grief you have is equal to the amount of love you have for your dad. My thoughts are with you now and as you go through this season of grief in the months ahead. G-d bless you.

Geez where do l begin, Jim was always such a welcoming soul . Always greeted me with a giant warm smile and an egghead comment. A thousand memories. From him bellowing at me from his front door while I was trying to fix Vicky’s Toyota to The Salon up in Yountville watching one of his favorite acts “born ready”
with him in the late 70’s. Sneaking gin into the place because we both didn’t want beer and that was all they served at the salon. Oh gosh just so many memories. He was always a kid at heart. Never lost it. Happy to have met Jim and I hope that I can always maintain his dignity and love for Life that he had!
Love you Landis’s. 💕Mark Gholson

Mitchell and I were sadden to learn of Jim's passing. He and my dad, Norm (who also lives at Brookdale) would razz each other when ever they saw each other. It put a smile on both of their faces....and mine. I will be in NYC on 10/27, but please know my heart and prayers go out to your family during this time of great sadness and heartache.

Sadly Emery and I Shirley heard about Jim when Emery was at a ballgame at Walnut Creek. Emery remembers the good times at Richmond High School Jim as a classmate, friend, and teammate. Emery was lucky enough to be at the 1959 World Series at Dodger Stadium and see Jim play. And we fondly remember Jim's folks James sr and Maida Landis as good neighbors as we lived just two doors down from them on Humphrey Avenue in Richmond, California. Blessings to the family at this sad time Emery
