Zachary (Zack) Thomas Gates

On Wednesday, December 23, 2020 Zachary (Zack)Thomas Gates died unexpectedly at home. He was 33 years old.

Zachary was born on January 15,1987 in Napa,Ca.to Fred and Leslie Gates.

He grew up in Napa, attended Napa schools and was a gifted student. He played soccer, skateboarded ferociously and had many friends.

Zachary was smart, compassionate and kind. He had a big heart and never met a person or animal in need that he didn’t help or want to help. He was a natural artist, who could paint and draw effortlessly. He had a discerning uncanny eye for colors and arrangements.

Zachary was happiest on family vacations at Stinson Beach or on Maui, riding his bike or skateboard or working on his computer. He leaves us with many lessons learned about the judgement of others and the courage waged to find a place of peace and comfort in a difficult life.

Zachary was predeceased by his grandmother Lola Gates. He leaves behind his parents, Frederick and Leslie Gates, his sister Tiffany Kenny (Eric) and niece Ella, brother Anson D’Agostino, and nephew Keaton, brother Britton D’Agostino (Melissa) and niece Amber Grey. His grandparents William and Judith Kennard; Aunt Catherine Cartier, Uncle Peter Gates (Doris)(cousins Sam and Ben), Uncle Adam Gates (Rachel) (cousin Frankie) and Aunt Lisa Salem (John ) (cousin Mark). Zachary also leaves behind his beloved Siamese cat “Maui” who brought him many years of unconditional love and joy.

Zachary was both our blessing and our lesson. We are forever grateful for the time we had together. May he Rest In Peace knowing he was loved and touched us all so deeply. We will hold him close in our hearts.
