Valente Alcantar Rodriguez, 85, of Napa, passed away peacefully on October 17th, 2025 at home, lovingly surrounded by family after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Valente was born on May 31st, 1940 to Fidel and Margarita in Durango, Mexico. After moving to Yountville at the age of 20 with his father he began working at a ranch in Napa and spent many years as a skilled laborer at Basalite Block. Soon after moving to Yountville, he met his wife Luciana and they went on to have a daughter, Francisca, in 1963.
After retiring early, Valente, or as most knew him, Jesse, enjoyed spending time with his family, caring for his wife and helping raise his grandchildren. He could often be found sitting at the Buttercream Bakery counter with friends having coffee and donuts. His kind heart and witty humor made him a beloved member of the community. When he was home he was tending to his garden, growing fruits and vegetables to share with all his family and friends. In his later years, he cared for his great grandson and namesake Eligh Valente at home amongst four beautiful generations of family. His presence will be missed and we will forever remember his warmth and the joy he brought to our lives.
Valente was predeceased by his beloved wife Luciana, father Fidel, mother Margarita, and sisters Gregoria and Mercedes. He is survived by his sister Juanita, daughter Francisca, grandson Jose (Evangelina), granddaughter Izabella, great grandson Eligh, and numerous nieces & nephews.
