Unetta Marie Eggers, 81, of Napa, California, died peacefully following a brief illness.
Marie was born in Vallejo, California, to Glen and Anne Dalldorf. Her mother Anne’s parents, Antonio Ruiz Juan and Mary D. Juan, had come to America on the ship S.S. Ascot from Ubeda, Spain in 1913. Marie felt very tied to her Spanish heritage and she remained in contact with her family in Spain until her death.
She and her three younger siblings lived in Napa for most of their lives. Marie was especially close to her sister Glenna, whom she adored and with whom she harmonized in song for radio broadcasts as a child.
She graduated from Napa High School in 1959 and married her husband Donald shortly afterwards.
Marie and Don were married for 63 years, often helping people remember their names by calling themselves “Donny and Marie.” They lived in Napa together for nearly the entirety of their marriage.
Family was everything to Marie. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and sister. She was the quintessential grandmother type – full of smiles, hugs, cherry scones, family birthday parties, hot sticky buns, and love.
Aside from raising children, Marie designed dresses and hats, made wedding cakes, worked for Pacific Bell for 13 years, and was the bookkeeper for her family businesses for 20 years. She was an avid craftsperson, talented in knitting, crocheting, and sewing. She made most of her gifts for loved ones, and no more than a week after Christmas, she often started on the next year’s Christmas gifts.
She loved to travel. She and Don visited Gualala frequently, occasionally venturing further afield – to Wyoming, Colorado, Nebraska, Idaho, and Western Europe. Other travel highlights included Hawaii with her son Patrick and his wife Sandy; Mackinac Island, Michigan with her son Kevin and his wife Roberta; the East Coast, Ireland, and Spain with her daughter Andrea; Mississippi with her son Michael; and among her favorites, frequent trips ten minutes away to have dinner with her son Tim and his family just across town in Napa.
Marie was preceded in death by her oldest son Patrick Eggers, who passed away only the day before her own death; by her younger sisters Glenna Triano and Roberta Williams; and by her parents Anne and Glen Dalldorf.
She is survived by her brother Edward Dalldorf (Phyllis), her husband Donald, her daughter-in-law Sandy Eggers, her son Kevin Eggers (Roberta), her daughter Andrea Scharff (Michael), her son Michael Eggers, and her son Timothy Eggers (Mary). She also leaves behind her grandchildren Lisa (Chris), Jeff, Max, Kate, John (Teresa), Daniel (Sheila), Thomas, Matthew, Annemarie, and Gabriel, as well as her great-grandchildren Alex, Cecilia, Maura, and Walter, and her furry grandchildren Dexter, Leonard, Kitty and Cassandra.

Marie asked that guests try to smile at her funeral and to think of it as a party instead of focusing on the sorrow of the occasion. In light of this request, guests might want to consider wearing something bright for this celebration of such a very bright life.
Flowers can be sent to Tulocay Cemetery Funeral Home. Please consider a charitable donation in Marie’s name to Parents CAN https://parentscan.org/ or to your own favorite charity.
