Stephanie "Pam" Duckett-Flaherty Obituary

Stephanie Pamela Duckett-Flaherty (Pam) passed away on Wednesday, January 29th, in Vallejo, CA. A Memorial will be held on February 28, 2026 at the Napa Valley Unitarian Universalist Church, 1625 Salvador Ave. in Napa at 1 PM.

Pam was born on July 31st, 1946, in Scotia, CA, to Albert and Helen Duckett. As a child, she was full of energy and loved climbing trees. Six years later, her sister Susan joined the family, and they moved around Northern California, living in places such as Fortuna and Miranda, before eventually settling in Angwin. During high school, Pam worked as a hospital aide while attending Pacific Union College. After school, she took a position as an administrator at the state hospital.

In 1973, Pam welcomed her first son (Cody), discovering her passion for motherhood. She met Bruce Flaherty in 1977 while gardening, when Bruce struck up a conversation from the yard next door. Their first date was a memorable occasion spent coloring Easter eggs with each of their young children, Cody and Kathy. They soon began their life together in Napa, where Pam ran an in-home daycare. After a few years, they had their first son together (Nathan), married, and welcomed their second son (Jeremy) a year later. With their growing family, they decided to settle in the mountains and found a picturesque 6-acre property on Mount Veeder. They lived in a trailer for 1.5 years while their house was being built, celebrating Thanksgiving outdoors with a bonfire for warmth, and setting up a small Christmas tree at the end of the boys bunk bed.

Life was bustling with three active sons, and while Bruce was at work, Pam immersed herself in her passions: caring for her family, gardening, sewing, knitting, and cooking. She also became involved with Pueblo Vista School to support her sons education. Pam contributed to the new Waldorf school, Stonebridge, which started in tents at the fairgrounds, teaching knitting, making crayon bags, and participating in crafts with the children.

Once their home was complete and fruit trees were planted, Pam and Bruce welcomed many foster children into their lives, eventually adopting three beautiful daughters (Kimberly, Bernadette, Melina). She cherished every moment of the children's activities, enjoyed cooking and baking with her daughters, and loved family camping trips in Humboldt County. Pam had a deep affection for her pets, especially her two beloved Chihuahuas, Nibby and Ellie. Her dedication to community was evident in her 20-year involvement with the UUNV Church, where she provided snacks and food and fostered a caring environment.

After their children grew up and Bruce retired, Pam and Bruce traveled more, with the Northern West Coast capturing Pam's heart, particularly Port Townsend, Victoria (BC), and Deer Harbor Island. Although her later years were marked by health challenges, her love for family, gardening, cooking, and the beauty of the countryside remained unwavering.

Pam is survived by her husband, Bruce Flaherty; her stepdaughter, Kathy Weisz (Eric); her three sons, Cody Forseth (Judy), Nathan Duckett-Flaherty (Presley), Jeremy Flaherty; her three daughters, Kimberly Cazares (Josh), Bernadette Duckett-Flaherty (Bob), Melina Duckett-Flaherty; and her 11 grandchildren, Zac Weisz, Tyler Weisz, Preston Cazares, Elliot Cazares, Nick Thompson, Anna Lia Martinez, Lila Rose Martinez, Laramie Flaherty, Gage Flaherty, Sky Lord, and Nova Lord; and her sister, Susan Davis. She was preceded in death by her parents.
