Stacy Alice Johnson

Stacy Alice Johnson, a beloved daughter, sister, and friend, passed away on March 16, 2026, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She was 51 years old.

Born on July 6, 1974, in Oakland, California, Stacy was born smiling, and was affectionately called Roo Bear by her parents and family friends. From a young age, she developed a lifelong interest in dance, politics and literature.  

She began her education at The Academy in Berkeley before attending St. Paul's Episcopal School in Oakland and later Bishop O'Dowd High School, where she graduated in 1992. Stacy earned a BA in History from the University of California at Santa Barbara in 1996. 

Following her undergraduate studies, she served with Teach for America from 1996 to 1997, beginning a career that was dedicated to education. She worked in under-resourced schools in North Carolina and South Florida. She earned her Masters degree in 2001 from Columbia University's Teacher's College. After completing her graduate studies, she returned to the Bay Area, where she took her educational talents to the corporate world, leading sales training workshops across the west coast.  

But Stacy had another love – travel. Stacy was a free spirit who spent time in Africa, Europe, and Asia. She lived in Thailand and spent time in Langkawi before settling in Kuala Lumpur, where she taught educational workshops and pursued her lifelong interest in Eastern Religions and the art of Tai Chi.   

Stacy is survived by her father, Daniel Johnson Jr.; her mother, Stephanie Reynolds; her sister, Anne C. Johnson, and her brother, Cameron Johnson.
