Roy Stone Obituary

Roy Vincent Stone, 77, of Napa passed away on December 25, 2022, peacefully in his sleep.

Roy was born on October 2, 1945, to Bob Shaws and Barbara Connolly. Roy later lived in a few foster homes before he came to live with the Coonrod family, whom he loved dearly.

It was when he was living with the Coonrods that he met his first wife and forever friend, Sherrie Stone. Roy went to Napa High and then worked at various jobs at Kaiser Steel, Mare Island, Napa Pipe and construction. Behind the bar is where he shined and felt at home. He started bartending at Napa Bowl in 1985, and found a home away from home there. In 2002, he bought his forever home away from home, Stone's Sports Bar, with his ex-wife and forever friend, Amy O'Keefe.

In life, Roy was an avid sports fan with never wavering adoration for the San Francisco Giants and 49ers. He loved playing softball and played on the Moore and Sayle Glass team for many years with his closest friends. He may or may not have been ejected from a few games for arguing with the umpires. He played in the Napa Valley Pool League and was always a great supporter of the organization. He also loved to gamble and we should probably leave it at that!

Roy loved big, he often times gave people his last dime and the shirt off his back. If he loved you, you knew it. If he didn't love you, you knew that too. He was always quick to put you in your place and also quick to forgive.

Roy is survived by his children: Chris (Amber) Stone, Lori (Kyle) Wheeler, Samantha and Sara Stone; his grandchildren: Rachael (Ryan) Solis, Tyler Stone, Chad Wheeler, Spencer Stone (Sofia), Abhi Vance, Andrew Wheeler, Dante Banducci, Henry Bergseid, and Remi Banducci; his three great-grandchildren: Milo and Matilda Solis and Skye Stone; his beloved girlfriend, Rosemary Calvert, who cared for him with so much love and attentiveness in his final moments; his sisters: Tanya Stone and Dorothy McHaney; his nieces and nephews: Pete, Todd, Gay, Amie, Kurt, Jimbo, Chris, Vanessa, Josh, Brandy and Julia; his beloved cousin, Nick (Wendy) Seiler.

Roy was predeceased by so many friends and family with a special mention to his mom, Mr. and Mrs. Coonrod; his grandparents; brother, Bob Coonrod; sister, Judy Stone; and his beloved nephew, Bubba.

Roy's Last Call will be at Napa Moose Lodge on Saturday, January 14 at 2:00 PM. Please wear a Stone's shirt if you have one. If you are a Dodgers fan please wear Giants gear.
