Ronald Melvin Nelson

Ronald Melvin Nelson, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully in his home November 4, 2025, at age 86, after an extended illness. Born June 16, 1939, in Alameda, CA, Ron, as he was known to family and friends, grew up in the Oakland/Bay Area, and lived in Sonoma for many years before he settled in Napa. 

Over the years, Ron worked as a construction contractor and hospital administrator, returning to construction before eventually retiring. His main passion in life was sharing Jesus with everyone he could. He was sincere in his desire to see as many people come to know Jesus as possible and spent much of his time sharing books, magazines and Bible studies with friends and neighbors.

He loved spending time in the garden with his wife Coleen and sharing the bountiful harvests with those around them. He also enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. His love of God and family were paramount.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents Melvin and Evaland Nelson; his first wife Geneanne; his brother Marvin; his sister Eleanor; and his stepson Tommy Lipsey.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Coleen; his sons, Ron (Sherri) Nelson of Thousand Palms, CA, Steve (Samantha) Nelson of La Plata, NM; his daughters, Cindy (Mike) Harris of Yuma, AZ, Kristine (Fidel) Torres of Klamath Falls, OR; stepdaughter Wendy (J.C.) Valle of Santa Rosa, CA; stepdaughter-in-law Shawna Lipsey of Napa, CA; and 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, whom he adored. 

A graveside service is scheduled for Monday, November 17, 11:00 am at Tulocay Cemetery in Napa, CA.
