Richard (Dick) William Irwin (94) passed away from natural causes, April 10, 2025 while living at Nazareth Rose Garden in Napa, California.
Dick was born on August 14, 1930 in Los Angeles to Richard Thomas and Leona Sarah Irwin. A birthday shared for years with his great grandson, Hank Irwin Cordes. They soon relocated to Hurricane, Utah where the family lived while his father built a house in Rockville, Utah. Dick worked through his teenage years at Zion National Park. They later moved to Provo, Utah where he met Marintha Pendleton on a blind date and then married her on July 8, 1950. After living in Utah and Nevada they eventually settled in Napa in 1960 and were married until Marintha’s death in 2012. He was a skilled tradesman and worked as a supervisor at Basalt Rock Company.
He was active in the Napa Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in various callings including filling in as an Addiction Recovery Group Leader and on the Napa Stake High Council.
Dick had a lifelong love for model airplanes and won multiple championships, local, state and regional. He belonged to the Academy of Model Aeronautics and the Society for Antique Models local SAM27 attending and flying his models at the local meetings every week for decades. He made many lifelong friends there.
Dick and Marintha were blessed with four children. Richard Owen Irwin (Brenda), Colin Paul Irwin (Debra), the late Polly Wagenknecht (Brad) and Melisa Colette Irwin. He was grandfather to ten and great grandfather to fourteen.
