Michael Ray Mosley passed away peacefully, but unexpectedly, on June 30th, 2023, at his home in Napa, a couple of days after his 65th birthday. His family is deeply saddened by his death.
Born in San Francisco on June 26, 1958, Mike grew up in Napa attending Northwood Elementary School, Redwood Jr. High, and Vintage High School, graduating in 1977. Mike was lucky enough to have met some of his lifelong friends while at school. Mike continued his education in SF at a trade school. He was also extremely proud of earning his Realtors License.
Mike was a hard worker and for many years owned his own business designing and installing marble and granite throughout the valley. Many of the wineries and tasting rooms in the area were designed by his company California Marble & Granite. He excelled at remodeling houses and had a passion for it. Mike loved collecting & working on classic cars, gardening, collecting antique furniture, and photography- having earned many ribbons at the Napa Fair. He loved growing beautiful flowers, and always had a bounty of vegetables to share. He thoroughly enjoyed learning all he could about gardening, flowers, and vegetables.
After Mike’s stroke in 2010, he made some changes and started by selling his business. This gave him more time in the garden and yard. Mike liked to help family and friends with their gardens too, but fishing was Mike’s passion; he loved to fish anywhere, any time. He also was a big-time 49er fan.
Mike is survived by his daughter Brittany (Mosley) Plendl, son-in-law George Plendl, granddaughter Elsie Plendl & grandson due in November 2023; his mother, Judy Thomas, and his siblings; Lynette Tiner, Pamela Mosley, Valerie Exum, Frank Mosley and sister-in-law Teri Mosley.
There are 3 generations of cousins, nieces, and nephews in Mike’s family, all who “Uncle Mike” loved dearly. His loved ones by last name are Bledsoe, Bledsoe-Fisher, Brooks, Exum, Harris, Hernandez, Larsen, May, Mosley, Rogerson, Russ, Sergeson, Simington, Tiner, Zivney.
Predeceased is Mike’s stepfather, Ray Thomas, who helped raise him from the age of 5, his stepbrothers Richard & Raymond Thomas, his friend and brother-in-law Earl Exum, and his beloved niece Jessica Bledsoe.
Michael’s family would like to thank Ole’ Health for the excellent care they provided for him over the past years. We would also like to thank Mike’s sister Pam for being, not only his sister, but his best friend and advocate. Thank you, Pam, for all your care, patience, and love.
Michael will be interned at Tulocay Cemetery in Napa near family. A celebration of his life will be planned at a later date.
Rest in Paradise, Mike. In our hearts we know that you have gone on a grand fishing trip.
