Melanio Cabaltera Dacanay, 86 years old, of American Canyon, CA, passed away on September 16, 2024. Melanio was born on October 22, 1937, to Cecilio F. Dacanay and Rosario S. Cabaltera in Vigan, Ilocos Sur, Philippines.
He pursued a degree in architecture at a local college but decided to leave architecture to pursue a degree in Forestry where he later worked at the Department of Forestry in Baguio City until he retired from that fulfilling career in the early 1980’s.
He met his wife, Linda Pasamonte in Baguio City in 1964, Mel and Linda went on to have 4 children and an older son embraced into the family when he was a young teen, Primo Pasamonte was a son to Linda’s younger brother, Amado, who passed away. Katherine was born in 1966, Melinda was born in 1968, Melanio, Jr. was born in 1969, and Jennifer was born in 1970. Melanio Dacanay, Jr. sadly passed away a few months
after birth.
The family immigrated to the U.S. on September 18, 1986, the family resided in American Canyon, California. Melanio worked as a machinist in Santa Clara, Ca. until he retired. Linda worked at a Nursing Home Facility in San Rafael, Ca. as a nursing assistant.
His first wife Linda Dacanay passed away on August 17, 1993. Melanio married his current wife, Lilia Caranto, in2001. Melanio is survived by his wife Lilia, his children Primo, Katherine, Melinda and Jennifer, and grandchildren, Nicole, Victoria, Jonathan and Hannah.
