Maxine made every effort to stay healthy and happy for all of her 103 years, so while she was comfortable, she may not have gone peacefully. The family thanks Bridge Hospice and Choctaw House for their conscientious comfort care.
Born to Mabel Hoffman Tarver and John Vivian Tarver in the family home in Yountville, Maxine was schooled in Yountville and supported herself from age 14 working at picking prunes, the Veterans Home, Gasser Motors, J Hurlburt Accountant, The Gem, owning a gas station and finishing up at Sanders, Jacobs & Cassayre at age 80, and then worked part-time for a local accountant well into her 90's.. She then started volunteering at Queen of the Valley helping "older" people. A longtime member of Native Daughters of the Golden West, she learned to play the piano after retiring so she could accompany the installation march.
Maxine married Dennis L DuBois in 1940 and had a baby girl. In 1949 she married Charles L Williams (Chick) and had two more daughters. Maxine was predeceased by her parents, siblings, spouses, one grandchild and most of her many friends. She is survived by daughters Sandy Callahan (Todd Dahleen), Pam Richards (Ed), Judi Johnson (Dan), grandchildren Lisa Cannon (Jeffry), Dustin Garza (Jennifer), and Sara Heredia (Johnny) and many great grandchildren.
Beloved by her friends and family, Maxine's goodness and joy will live on in all of us. She will be interred at the Tulocay Urn Garden alongside her husband, Chick, who will wonder where the heck she has been. No services will be held.
