In Loving Memory

Maryann Bautovich passed away peacefully on May 27, 2026. Born in San Francisco in 1944, she spent most of her beloved years in Napa, California, where she became a cherished figure in the wine community and beyond.

Maryann was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Mary Bautovich. She is survived by her brother, Jim Bautovich, and sister-in-law Joyce; niece Dana Alcala (Ramiro) and nephew Dan Hodges (Gia); great-nieces Jessi, Ashley, Maddie, Grace, and Hadley; great-nephews Scotty and Will; and a wide circle of dear friends whose lives she touched in countless ways.

A graduate of Notre Dame High School in Belmont, California, Maryann went on to attend Trinity College and earned her Master’s degree from Lehigh University — a foundation that launched a remarkable career. She spent 40 years in the alcoholic beverage industry, 37 of them devoted to the world of wine. Her professional journey took her from Kraft, Swift, and Anheuser-Busch to the heights of the wine world, where she served as Brand Vice President at Beringer Wine Estates. Ever the entrepreneur, she later founded Vin-de-Cal International, an international wine brokerage that reflected her expertise, vision, and passion for the craft.

Maryann was a beloved mentor and a fixture at Napa Valley and California’s traveling wine shows, generously sharing her knowledge and enthusiasm with the next generation of wine professionals. Those who knew her will remember her for her love of adventure and travel, her fierce spirit, her boundless kindness and generosity, her quick wit and humor — and of course, her legendary sense of style and color.

She leaves behind not just a family, but an entire community of people whose lives were richer for knowing her. She will be deeply missed.

Services will be held at Tulocay Cemetery in Napa on Monday, June 22 2026 at 10 am.
