Mark Wallace Stevenson, age 77, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2025, in Napa, California.
Born in La Grande, Oregon on November 30, 1947, Mark spent his early childhood there before moving to Fresno, CA, where he helped tend to his family's backyard farm—an extension of his father’s botanical pursuits. He later moved to Canoga Park, CA, where he graduated from Canoga Park High School.
A passionate student of science, Mark attended UCLA where he studied Physics, alongside Mathematics and Computer Science. It was there that he met his beloved wife, Diana. The two married in 1980 and built a joyful life together, raising their two children, Alicia and Matthew, first living in Santa Monica and later in Northridge.
Mark proudly served six years in the Air National Guard Reserves, based in Van Nuys, CA. Professionally, he was a meticulous and respected computer programmer analyst. Outside of work, he was a curious and thoughtful lifelong learner, deeply interested in astronomy, technology, and science fiction.
Mark was known for his boundless curiosity, love for star gazing, woodworking, camping, skiing, sailing, and ballroom dancing. In 2011, Mark and Diana moved to Napa to be closer to family. There, they embraced a vibrant community life—enjoying music, wine, bocce ball, crab feeds, and frequent gatherings with lifelong friends from both Northern and Southern California.
Always ready with a joke and a warm smile, Mark was a natural entertainer and a gentle soul with a kind heart. He was admired for his thoughtful insights, witty sense of humor, and unwavering devotion to his family.
Mark will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him—for the light he brought into every room, and the laughter he left behind.
Mark is survived by his loving wife Diana, his daughter Alicia, his son Matthew, his sister Crystal Sullivan, and his stepmother Beverly Stevenson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ellerslie “Sam” Stevenson and Martha Stevenson.
He will be laid to rest at Tulocay Cemetery in Napa, California.
