1918—2018
Marjorie Fay Johnson (Walker) 99, passed away on January 25, 2018. She went peacefully in her home, in Gardnerville, Nevada. Marjorie was born on August 10, 1918, in Santa Rosa, to Benjamin and Fay Walker. She moved to Napa when she was 4 years old. She met the love of her life, Chesley Irl Johnson, of Napa, when they were both students at Napa High School. They were married December 22, 1938, and were married for 61 years before his death on November 7, 2000.
Marjorie spent many years in Napa as a Sunsweet Prune Fore lady and retired from there in 1965. Her and ‘Ches’ raised their two daughters that also graduated from Napa High School. They enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and spending time with their family. As Marjorie would always say, ‘ I started this whole mess’, referring to watching the family grow. Some of her favorite times were spent with a deck of cards in her hand and times the grandchildren, and eventually, even great-grandchildren, spent with her, with many of them learning their numbers early in life by all the time spent playing cards with her. She was a wonderful caregiver and always put her family before herself.
Marjorie is survived by her daughter, Irlene Morgan (Johnson) and son-in-law George Morgan as well as son-in-law Carl Larsen. She also leaves behind 4 grandchildren, Diane Holstein (Larsen), Carl ‘Bo’ Larsen, Jenifer Gunnell (Morgan) and George ‘Beeze’ Morgan as well as 5 great-grandchildren, Beau & Lauren Larsen as well as Morgan & Lexi Gunnell and Jessy Morgan. She is also survived by her two sisters, Marilyn Greenwell (Walker) and Gloria Ceriani (Walker), along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Carolyn Larsen (Johnson) and her brother Earl Walker.
Funeral services and reception will be held Saturday, February 3rd at Tulocay Cemetery, 411 Coombsville Rd., Napa, CA, at 1 PM, with a viewing from 10-1 PM.
