Lorrie (Boitano) Negri

Lorrie (Boitano) Negri passed away peacefully on April 25, 2026, just one day shy of her 87th birthday.

Lorrie was born on April 26, 1939, in San Francisco, the second of two daughters of Inez and Fred Boitano. She spent her early years in San Francisco, attending St. Brigid Grammar School and graduating from Presentation High School in 1957. She went on to pursue her passion for teaching at San Francisco State College, graduating in 1961.From a young age, it was clear she possessed the compassion, patience, and dedication that would define her lifelong career as an educator.

After college, Lorrie moved to Napa and began working for the Napa Valley Unified School District in 1961, where she would remain for nearly 40 years. Her first position was at Browns Valley Elementary School. During her early years in Napa, she met her future husband, Fred. Together, they built a beautiful life - one filled with a meaningful career, cherished friendships, and a growing family.

Few things mattered more to Lorrie than her family and her faith. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, caring aunt, and a loyal friend. She was deeply involved in the St. Apollinaris community and treasured her time with the church, the Women’s Guild, the Walking Group, and the many dinner gatherings she and Fred shared with friends over the years. Lorrie and Fred were also longtime members of the Italian Catholic Federation, participating for over 30 years.

Lorrie loved being a grandmother and took great pride and delight in her grandchildren. She loved spending time with them, hearing their stories and updates on their lives, and teaching them to bake and cook. Lorrie hosted ‘Grandma Camp’ several summers and it was a highlight for both her and her grandchildren. There was swimming at the Redwood Pool, yummy dinners, and lessons on how to make her chocolate chip cookies, ravioli, panettone and spaghetti and meatballs.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew her and is now at peace, watching over those she loved.

Lorrie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Fred, and her parents, Inez and Fred Boitano. She is survived by her sister, Fran Rogers; her four children, Mike (Tish), Craig (Jill), Christy (Nate Galambos), and Brian (Cheri); her 10 grandchildren, Anthony, Isabella, Gianna, Liliana, Elainna, Mario, Michael, Matteo, Bobbie, and Jeremy; and three great-grandchildren (Aurelia, Aria and Georgia).

If Lorrie were here to offer a few words, she would remind us to be patient with one another, to be kind and generous, to laugh every day, and eat LOTS of chocolate chip cookies.

A Rosary will be held at St. Apollinaris Church at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 4, followed by a Mass at 12:30 p.m. Reception to follow at Tulocay at their event center. All who knew and loved Lorrie are warmly invited to attend and celebrate her life.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Apollinaris, Justin-Siena High School or a charity of donor’s choice. She gave to many.

The Negri family extends heartfelt thanks to Lorrie’s many wonderful and supportive friends who brought her comfort during the past year, as well as to the dedicated caregivers and hospice nurses who provided such compassionate care.
