Loraine Mabel White Moore 1924-2022
Loraine was born on January 19, 1924, in San Francisco to Earl Stanton White and
Mabel Edna Richter White. She was raised in San Anselmo, California, and was a
graduate of Tamalpais High School. Loraine loved music and was a talented
vocalist and pianist. She also enjoyed several hobbies including gardening and
needlepoint. Loraine was active in Job’s Daughters where she served as Honored
Queen and was a member of Star of the Redwoods, Chapter No. 219 Order of the
Eastern Star for 80 years. She met her future husband, Ralph William Moore of
San Rafael, at a DeMolay dance. Ralph and Loraine were married in the
Presbyterian Church in San Rafael on March 10, 1945, and were married for 71
years until Ralph’s passing in 2016.
Ralph and Loraine resided in Vallejo with their three children, Bill, Loral and Cinda,
before moving to Napa in 1965. They enjoyed the daily company of family and
friends, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Loraine and Ralph
enjoyed many years of attending their grandchildren’s sporting events (especially
softball and baseball), dance recitals and school band concerts. Loraine always
had a loving and cheerful spirit and wonderful sense of humor. She passed away
just two weeks shy of her 98 th birthday on January 5, 2022.
Loraine is survived by her three children, Ralph William “Bill” Moore, Jr., Loral
Moore and Lucinda “Cinda” Knudson (Bill); her grandchildren, James “Jim” Gard
of Calistoga, Carolyn Woods (Tom), Lucinda “Luie” Knudson and William “Will”
Knudson, Jr.; step-grandson Jeffrey Blair Porter of Sherman Oaks, CA; and great-
grandchildren, Patrick, Jack and Reagan Woods. She is also survived by numerous
extended family.
Loraine was predeceased by her loving husband Ralph, her sister Ruth
Thorgersen, her brother Earl White, Jr. and her daughter-in-law Denise Blair
Moore.
There will be a private family celebration of Loraine’s life.
