Lois Richwine Obituary

Lois Richwine passed away peacefully in her home on January 5, 2023, with her family by her side.

Lois was born on December 14, 1934, to Roy and Matilda Robinson in Madison, SD. She was the youngest of four children and grew up in South Dakota until she moved to California with her father and older sister.

Lois attended Vallejo High School and Vallejo Junior College, where she was active in sports and belonged to the Girls Athletic Association. Her first job was working at the Mare Island gas station as an attendant. Friends introduced her to her future husband who worked at Mare Island, via a blind date.

In 1959, she was married to George Richwine and they made a home for themselves in Vallejo until moving to Napa in 1965, with their three children.

Lois was active in PTA and involved in her children's and grandchildren's activities throughout their youth. She later went to work for the NVUSD as a cafeteria worker, retiring as the Napa High School cafeteria manager. She maintained friendships from those days well into her eighties! Lunch and coffee dates were always on her calendar.

Having always been interested in sports, it was no surprise when she joined a bocce ball team and played until she was no longer able.

Lois led a full life filled with family, friends and fun. We couldn't have asked for more. Her memory will live forever in our hearts.

She is survived by her three daughters: Katherine, Gail and Carol (Mark); as well as two granddaughters: Madison and Blair.

Lois was predeceased by her parents, Roy and Matilda; stepmother, Ruth; her three siblings: Myrle, LaVon and Elaine; her husband, George; and a great-grandson, Mason.

A memorial service is planned for later this spring.
