Les Lawson, age 86 passed away on August 2, 2025 surrounded by his family. Les was born on October 5, 1938 to Ira Onus and Eudora May in Buckeye, Arizona. He started working at a grocery store in Vallejo during high school graduating from Vallejo Highschool in 1957. Les met the love of his life when she walked into the grocery store, he was working, and she asked him out on a date. Three months later she asked him to marry her that turned into 64 years of laughter and incredible memories. Together they started their journey raising a family and becoming business owners purchasing their first grocery store in 1968 on Sacramento Street in Vallejo, CA and second store in 1972 in American Canyon.
Les is survived by his wife Earlene Lawson, brother Steve Mitchell (spouse Marylee), daughters Ladeena Ford (spouse Tim Ford), Denise Richardson (spouse Robert Richardson), Dee Ann Graffigna (spouse Justin Graffigna) and pre-deceased by sons David Lawson and Les Lawson. Les has eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Services will be held at Tulocay Cemetery on Wednesday August 13 th at 11am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Martin O’Neill Cancer Center: Adventist Health St. Helena https://shhfoundation.org/ways-to-give/donate-now.
