A bright new star shines in heaven for Laura Joan Tinthoff, an inspiring artist, devoted mother, and caring friend.
Laura was born November 15, 1956, to Dr. John C. and Betty Lou Henebry Tinthoff, and raised in Peoria, IL, with her younger brother James L. Tinthoff. Laura graduated from Richwoods High School and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree Cum Laude at Southern Methodist University, where she was a Kappa Kappa Gamma.
Laura spread joy and beauty across the land, from Seattle where she raised her sons, to the coast of New England, to the shell-strewn shores of Sanibel Island, and to the vineyards of Napa Valley. Her creativity overflowed into vibrant paintings of flowers, mermaids, and even her pet llamas. She poured her heart into renovating and decorating homes, filling each with light, openness, and warmth. She was active in community efforts to preserve the rustic beauty of Napa, and helped others overcome hardship as a professional hypnotherapist. Above all, Laura was a loving and generous person, always eager to share a laugh or lend a helping hand.
Laura's journey reached its end on December 7, 2022 in Napa, CA.
She is survived by her sons: John and Tyler Shields; Tyler's wife, Isabel; and newly-born granddaughter, Emerson; and an abundance of loving friends and extended family..
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her memory to the Health and Hope Foundation (healthandhopefoundation.org).
"Be kind and gentle on yourself. Laugh a little then laugh more. Forgive mistakes. Imagine, believe, create harmony. Speak love, out loud. And then speak again." - Laura Joan Tinthoff
