Lana Marie Clark was born in Tulare, CA, on October 17, 1944, the first of two daughters born to Stephen and Mary Gron. Her dad was in the Air Force, so her family moved often in her early years, but settled eventually in Hayward, CA. At 19, she attended the party of a friend where she met Kenneth Clark, the man who became the love of her life. Lana and Ken married in 1965 and made their first home in Hayward where they welcomed the births of their first two children -Tracey and Sandra.
They moved to Napa in 1970 where they chose to raise their family and welcomed the birth of their son Bryan. While her children were young, Lana worked as a homemaker and volunteered in her children's classrooms. Since their first child had special needs, Lana became her advocate. This led her to taking a job with the Napa Valley Unified School District as a teacher's assistant for children with developmental disabilities and eventually, to a fulfilling career as a job coach with Napa Valley Support Services.
Lana led a full life. She and her husband Ken had a menagerie of animals at their home in the hills above St. Helena where they moved after their children grew up and moved out of their Napa home. They raised everything from cats and dogs, to goats, exotic birds, emus, three miniature donkeys and a llama called Sapphire. Ever creative, Lana planted and tended to an impressive vegetable garden. She enjoyed refurbishing antiques and was an accomplished pen and ink artist.
When Lana suffered a stroke in 2018, her family rallied in support of her and helped her regain her speech. After the Glass Fire of 2020, she moved from St. Helena back to Napa to be closer to her daughter Sandra. Lana passed away on the night of June 14, 2023, surrounded by her family and their love for her.
She is survived by her daughter, Tracey Clark of Napa, CA; her daughter, Sandra (Clark) Quiett (Husband Tom) of Napa, CA, along with their four daughters: Tayler, Jenna and Hannah Quiett, Meghan Quiett-Chinaka (Husband Obinna); her son, Bryan Clark ( Wife Alicia ) of Santa Rosa and their two children: Shiloh and Naomi Clark; as well as her brother-in-law, David Clark (wife Patti) of Hollister, CA. Lana is preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Cheryl Julia; mother-in-law, Ruth Clark; and her husband of 47 years, Kenneth Clark.
Lana's heart was for her family, and she lived her life devoted to her husband, children and grandchildren.
