Kathleen Ann Roberts passed away suddenly on September 11, 2023, at her home in Napa. She was born in Napa, the third child of Dewey and Yvette (Martel) Roberts, on April 16, 1962. She leaves behind her beloved partner Bill and her “heart sister,” Maria. She is remembered with love by her brother Jim and aunt Cathy. She will be greatly missed by her niece Victoria and nephews Tim and Greg.
Kathy was always interested in community service and helping others. She was trained and employed as a paralegal. She graduated from the Los Medanos Academy in 1985 and served with the Vallejo Police. After an unfortunate injury, Kathleen worked as a service assistant and dispatcher for the Napa and Calistoga Police. She shifted to a new career field, completed a master’s degree in counseling psychology in 2001 and was accepted as a fellow on the American Board of Disability Analysts. She worked for several agencies providing direct services to individuals with developmental disabilities and mental health issues. Kathy arranged employment and training for veterans. She was a compassionate advocate for her clients at Buckelew Programs. Her coworkers found her upbeat, full of bounce and dedicated to her work.
In her self-employment, Kathy developed and presented training programs including communication and conflict resolution. She taught courses at the Hastings College of Law and Notre Dame de Namur University. These classes led to the publication of her book, entitled "Recognizing, Identifying and Handling Persons with Mental Illness and Developmental Disabilities".
Kathy enjoyed all things Elvis and collected his music and films and numerous books about his life. She enjoyed spending time with her beloved Bill at Elvis events, taking day trips and vacations. She was active with the St. John’s #26 Young Ladies Institute. She supported several service programs, including the Police Activities League and animal welfare charities.
Kathy will be missed by all who loved her for her compassionate spirit, kindness and optimism. Visitation at 5:30 pm and a service of remembrance at 7:30 pm will be held on November 14th at the Napa Women's Club, 218 Franklin St. Interment will be in Tulocay Cemetery at 2:00 pm on November 15.
