Karen Bridewell Obituary

Karen Elizabeth Bridewell (Kiser) aka "HeyHey", age 81, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the family she loved so deeply, on April 26, 2025. Born on March 14, 1944, in San Francisco, California, to Doris Kiser (Quinn) & John Quinn. Doris later married Andrew "Pic" Kiser, and he was the man Karen would know and love as her father. She was raised in Napa, California, and often shared with us the fond memories of growing up in the Carneros region, and the shenanigans she would get into with her friends of the Napa High School Class of 1962. She cherished those years, and fostered many lifelong friendships from that era. Karen lived a life full of laughter, love, and unwavering devotion to her family.

Karen was a character in every sense of the word-goofy, loving, and selfless to a fault. She had a unique ability to drive you crazy and make you laugh all in the same breath. Her generosity knew no bounds; she would sacrifice anything for the people she loved. Through every stage of her life, her sense of humor remained intact, as did her deep love for family.

As a mother, Karen took immense pride in raising her three children: Douglas Bridewell of Oklahoma, Jeffrey Bridewell (Samantha) of Oregon, and Jennifer Jezycki of California. She was always present-cheering from the sidelines at games, helping with school projects, or volunteering as a team mom. She created a warm and loving home where holidays were nothing short of magical-filled with thoughtful touches, laughter, and cherished traditions.

Her role as a grandmother brought her endless joy. She adored her seven grandchildren-Colton Jezycki, Kelsey Bridewell, Brett Bridewell, Kadin Jezycki, Karly Bridewell, Sydney Bridewell, and Kaleena Jezycki-and spoiled them without hesitation. Whether it was treats or attention, she gave freely and fully. In return, they lovingly cared for her in her later years-a testament to the deep bonds she built with each of them.

Karen is also survived by her brother Kevin Kiser (Lynn) of Napa; her nephew Joshua Kiser; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband James R. Bridewell; her brother John "Butch" Kiser; and nephew Christopher Kiser.

A true foodie at heart, Karen loved dining out-whether it was a celebratory family dinner, weekly lunch dates with her daughter, or special afternoon lunches with her girlfriends filled with gossip, politics, and a martini. Despite living with multiple sclerosis for much of her life-a challenge that often made things harder than they needed to be-she never let it dampen her spirit or her love for those around her.

In her younger years, Karen embraced fun and adventure. She never turned down a trip to the casino or the chance to pull the handle on a slot machine. South Lake Tahoe held a special place in her heart, as did New Orleans-a city she loved for its music, food, gambling, and the company of good friends.

When faced with a recent cancer diagnosis and asked if there was anything special she wanted to do-a bucket list or destination to visit-she simply shrugged and said, "No, I just really enjoy being around family." That was Karen: simple in desire but rich in love. Often funny. Sometimes difficult. But always our "HeyHey"-a nickname lovingly given by her firstborn grandson, Colton, that stuck through the years.

Karen's presence will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to those who loved her... A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, June 22, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 02:00 PM at Napa Elks Lodge #832, 2840 Soscol Avenue, Napa, CA.
