Judith Steidlmayer

Judith Steidlmayer, wife of J.Peter Steidlmayer of Napa, California, passed away peacefully May 18, 2021. Born in Chicago on October 21, 1939, Judy was the daughter of George and Anna Baier. She graduated from Barat College in Lake Forest, Illinois, where she majored in French. After college, Judy moved to downtown Chicago with some girlfriends, where she enjoyed the excitement of city life. She met her future husband Peter, a commodities trader and rancher, while working for Geldermann Brokerage firm in 1963, and the pair later married in the winter of 1966.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Peter; three daughters, Amy Steidlmayer, Holly Steidlmayer, and Heidy (Darren) Knabe; and five grandchildren, Chase, Dane, Esme, Daphne, and Ivy. Judy had a lifelong love of dogs, especially her collies, Lassie, Kirby, Marnie, Patrick, and Katie; and her red setter, Abby. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your local humane society or ASPCA in Judy's memory.
