John Corrigan Obituary

John "Jack" Corrigan, born December 19, 1937, passed away at Queen of the Valley Hospital on April 10, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.

Born to William and Kittie Corrigan, Jack and his four brothers and sisters were raised in Southern California. Jack attended Mt. San Antonio College and San Diego State University, where he graduated with a degree in civil engineering, later attending Colorado State University where he earned his master's degree.

Jack spent his entire career working for the Army Corps of Engineers. His first assignment was at Vandenberg Air Force Base where he met his wife, Diana, with whom he recently celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary.

Jack and Diana had three children, Hilary, John, and Jerad. The family spent their many vacations both water and snow skiing, and camping, as Jack always loved the outdoors.

Jack's career took the family to various locations, and he always found his job both challenging and rewarding. Jack retired from the Army Corps of Engineers, Sacramento District, in 1998.

Over the years, Jack and Diana traveled quite a bit, but his favorite spot was Lake Almanor for family get-togethers, fishing with friends, and simply enjoying time spent around the campfire.

Jack was asked to return to work on the Napa Flood Project in 2010, a position he truly enjoyed. His retirement years were spent traveling with Diana and their friends and family. He also enjoyed gardening, tutoring, fishing, going to Healthquest every morning he could, playing dominos with his friend Joel, and his weekly cribbage game at the Moose Lodge with his friend Howard.

Jack was patient and kind, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Family and friends meant everything to Jack.

Jack is survived by his wife, Diana; his daughter, Hilary Pieper and son-in-law Tom Pieper; son, John and his daughter-in-law Michelle Corrigan; and his youngest son, Jerad and his wife, Kim Corrigan; Jack's grandchildren: Andrew Pieper (married to Rachel Pieper); Morgan Roberts (married to Nick Roberts); Haley, Lindsey, Bella, and Harper Corrigan; his great-grandchildren: Myles and Mac Pieper, and Bennett Roberts. Jack is also survived by his brother, Tom.

The Corrigan and Pieper families would like to sincerely thank Dr. James Srebro for his 25 years of care and the doctors and staff at the Queen of the Valley ICU for their kindness, attentiveness, and professionalism.

Donations may be made to the Queen of the Valley Foundation or the American Heart Association.
