God called Joann Darling Cherrington home on November 9, 2021.
Joann was born on New Years’ Eve 1938 in San Francisco, CA to Iris & Albert Erdmann. She grew up around the Bay Area with the family finally settling in Napa – she had a close-knit bond with her siblings that would bring her so much joy over the years. Joann graduated from Napa High School and soon after she married the husband that adored her for 59 years, Glenn Cherrington. After exchanging vows at St. John’s Lutheran Church, they started their family welcoming two daughters and a son – she loved and supported her children always. She enjoyed her career as a Teacher’s Assistant, retiring in 2002, and loved working with all of the kids that occupied a huge space in her heart. Joann raised her family to have a strong relationship with the Lord and was always active and faithful in her service. An avid recipe collector, she always enjoyed cooking up new dishes for her family and friends. Later in life she found a true passion for photography – often capturing life’s happiest moments and helping make celebrations even more special.
Joann is survived by her younger sister and favorite travel companion, Susan Boettcher.
Her closest and dearest friend since the day they met in grade school, Darlene Sanchez.
Her daughter, Jenine Carpenter, husband Tom and their daughter Angela Loo and son-in-law Charlie and their son Charles Dean.
Her daughter, Lisa Weitz, husband Rob and their son Adam and daughter-in-law Lauren.
Her son, Tim Cherrington.
God bless you Mom! We love you and miss you so much…
A celebration of Joann’s life will be held Sunday December 5th @ 5:30 PM at Napa Valley Life Church, 2303 Trower Avenue, Napa, CA.
