Jewel Lee McFarland, beloved matriarch and heart of our family, passed away on December 7, 2023, leaving behind an indelible mark of love and strength. Born on July 12, 1942, in Chico, CA, to Oliver and Edith DeVoll. Jewel was the cornerstone of our family, a guiding light who touched the lives of many.
In 1959, Jewel married her beloved James McFarland, with whom she shared 64 years of unwavering love, creating a legacy of commitment and devotion that will forever inspire us.
Jewel dedicated her life to nurturing her two cherished daughters: Theresa Lee, happily married to Terry Lee, and Shelley Hartley, lovingly wed to Chris Hartley. She reveled in the joys of family life and was the adored grandmother of six grandchildren: Christina, Elisha, Casandra, Michael, James, Michelle; and the beloved great-grandmother of 12. Her love for her family was immeasurable, and she treasured every moment shared with them.
Jewel's vibrant spirit, characterized by her strength, confidence, and feistiness, was contagious. Her fun-loving nature and infectious laughter filled every room, making gatherings extra special. Holidays were not just celebrations; they were moments of pure joy, love, and togetherness, thanks to her warm heart and inviting nature.
She had a passion for cooking and hosting, creating meals that not only delighted the taste buds but also nourished the soul. Jewel's kitchen was a place of warmth and comfort, where everyone was welcome, and everyone felt loved and embraced as part of our extended family.
Her unwavering faith in God was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her in everything she did. Jewel's love and acceptance knew no boundaries; she welcomed everyone into her heart with open arms, fostering a sense of belonging and unity.
Jewel Lee McFarland will forever be remembered for her loving nature, generous spirit, and unending devotion to family. She leaves behind a legacy of love, warmth, and endless memories that will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Survived by Her brother Donald DeVoll, and 13 nephews and nieces and "great's." that she loved so dearly.
A celebration of her remarkable life will be held at Tulocay Cemetery in Napa on December 20, 2023 at 1:00 p.m.
