On August 7th we said goodbye to the most amazing mom, daughter, wife, sister and friend. Jennifer was born at Queen of the Valley hospital on May 21, 1973 and except for her time at Sonoma State, she lived in Napa all of her life.
She attended Vintage High school and excelled in three sports basketball, softball and volleyball. She continued her volleyball career at Sonoma State in order to play for her favorite coach Kelly VanWinden. She was named to the Sonoma State athletic hall of fame in 2011 and was named to the Vintage High athletic hall of fame in 2022. After graduation at Sonoma State in business, she immediately went to the Napa Valley College police academy, becoming top of her class. She worked for the Fairfield Police Department for 8 years prior to retiring to be a full time mom in 2007. She married Albert Washington who blessed her with two step children Brandon and Jasmine. She always loved them greatly and started being a sports mom with them. The day after getting out of the hospital with Jaden, she was at Brandon's basketball game and the day after Jordan's birth, she went to Tahoe for a softball tournament. She felt truly blessed to have them in her life. She and Albert had three children Jaden in 2006, Jordan in 2007 with Jenica arriving in 2013. Being a mom was definitely her life's calling and she gave incredible amounts of time and energy into raising her wonderful children. She would be found at all of their games and events, even when it became difficult to be there. With five active sports kids, she and Albert were always on the road, in the bleachers or at a field somewhere. Jennifer was also absolutely the best friend you could have. She was the type of friend who truly listened, cared and acted. Those who she called friends are feeling a very large hole in their lives right now.
Jennifer is survived by her parents Jon and Janice Clifton, husband Albert Washington, children Brandon, Jasmine (Hannah), Jaden, Jordan, and Jenica, granddaughter Kaiya, sister Laura (Andy), and brothers Chuck, Sean and Danny.
Jennifer’s faith was unwavering, she said God loved her kids more than she did and if He took her home, He would watch over and care for them. She was granted a 10 year miracle after her original stage 4 diagnosis in September 2015. We were so grateful for this time.
Our sorrow is overwhelming but we hold on to the knowledge that we will see her again. Burial will be private at Tulocay and the memorial service will be held at Hillside Christian Church in Napa on Saturday Aug. 23rd at 2:00pm.
