Jeffrey Harrington Obituary

Jeffrey Harrington left a loving family and countless friends unexpectedly, at the age of 61, on January 15, 2025. Jeff was born in Massachusetts in 1963, and spent summers in his youth in York, Maine.

From there, the places he called home only increased, along with the number of people he called friends. Jeff attended college at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and Boston campuses, earning an Economics degree in the 1980's. This was followed by a Master's degree in Wine Business at Sonoma State University.

Jeff's career in the restaurant and hospitality industry brought him to Boston, Nantucket, MA, Key West, FL, and Bozeman, MT, before leading him to Napa Valley, the place he called home since 2001. Through his achievements and positions, Jeff made a significant impact upon the lives of his family and friends. He was unique in his ability to make everyone he knew and met to feel welcomed and valued. Upon news of his passing, friends from across the country told stories of how Jeff had helped them at one time or another, how he had made them feel included and important. Authentic, genuine, caring, engaged and gentle were all terms used to describe Jeff's true nature.

Jeff had a lifelong passion for music, especially live performances, which was an experience he loved to share with friends. Being a person of great intellect and compassion, he was knowledgeable and engaged in the news and current events. His strong interest in fairness and equity was demonstrated in the way he lived and interacted with those around him. Perhaps Jeff's truest passion was mountain biking. Through physicality, dedication, and exploring places in nature that few ever venture to see, his connection with the sport was spiritual.

Jeff married late in life, in 2019, at age 56. Always the perfectionist, it was well worth the wait for him to find his partner Shelley Brown, who he lovingly referred to as Shell Shell. Together they built a beautiful life at home, where he designed and tended to a vegetable garden and a perfectly manicured outdoor living space. There, they adopted 3 dogs, who Jeff was completely enamored with and entertained by.

Jeff leaves behind his wife of 5 years, her daughter Kara Rocha, and son in law Alex. He also leaves two brothers, Robert Harrington, and Brian Harrington, sisters in law Anne and Marianne, all of Scarborough, Maine, as well as two nieces, one nephew and three grand nephews and nieces.

A celebration of Life will be held to honor Jeff's life and legacy of kindness later in 2025, in Napa Valley.
