Without turning off her sewing machine, hanging up her gardening hat, or cashing in her Mahjong money, Jane Anne "Sue" Lipschultz passed away peacefully Thursday, June 15, 2023, joining her beloved husband Bill in Heaven for a few more great adventures.
Sue was born in November of 1936, to William and Ethel Davis in Forsyth, MT. She was the fifth of six Davis siblings whose lives and times together brought her great joy and laughter. She attended schools in Colstrip, MT, graduated from high school in Tenino, WA, and received a Bachelors Degree and teaching certificate from Sonoma State University. Sue, otherwise known as Mrs. Lip, taught 1st grade through 6th, spending many happy years teaching at Napa Junction and Vichy Elementary.
On June 23, 1956, Sue married her best friend William Lipschultz and together they built a full and wonderful life, making a home in Napa, CA, and raising three beautiful, talented daughters. Together, they made life an adventure traveling far and wide in search of new vistas, delicious food, and fun times together. Sweethearts for 66 years, Bill and Sue loved volunteering in Napa, staying connected to their retired teachers groups, staying busy with friends and family, and making each other happy.
An avid quilter, Sue spent several years working with the Napa Valley Quilt Guild's Quilts to Share Committee, providing comfort quilts to those in need. She also enjoyed cooking and delivering food to The Table, a local food bank, for many years. She loved her garden, good books, Hawaii, parties, musical theater, and traveling Space Available on her favorite airline, The U.S. Air Force, with her favorite soldier Bill.
Sue is survived by her three daughters: Lorri Rieve (Andrew) of Ramona, CA; Theresa Valls (John) of Portland, OR; and Rebecca Mieliwocki (Duane) of Glendale, CA; and granddaughter, Caitlyn Yarbrough; grandsons: Will Rieve and Davis Mieliwocki; sister-in-law, Helen Scullen; many beloved nieces and nephews, and the sister of her heart, Judy Thomas.
A celebration of Sue's life will be held at a later date.
