James Paoli Obituary

James M Paoli, known affectionately as "Jim" by all who knew him, aged 70, was born in Napa, to his late mother, Carol, and his father, Ken. On June 9, 2025, he passed away peacefully in his home after a courageous battle with cancer. A quiet man, Jim had a deep love for God, his family, and his friends. He was known for his patience, his vast knowledge, and his ability to teach. These traits were evident in his personal and professional life. Jim had a profound commitment to his work at the City of Napa streets and signs department, where he served for 35 years until his retirement. His dedication to this role underscored his love for his community and his deep roots in Napa. Jim had an enduring passion for restoration. His most cherished project was the complete, meticulous restoration of a 1951 Chevy pick-up, originally owned by his father. This labor of love was indicative of his patience, skill, and respect for family history. His earlier years were filled with parties with friends, hunting, and fishing. He carried his love for fishing well into his later years. However, his greatest joy were his family. In his own words, he stated, "I had a good life. I had a loving family. When I was young, I partied with my friends and enjoyed hunting and fishing...I was fortunate to find a wonderful wife of 38 years who had two incredible kids, then we got grandchildren who I adore. "Jim was preceded in death by his mother, Carol, and his daughter, Cynthia. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Elaine, his son, James, his grandchildren, Arianna, Blair, and James Jr., his father, Ken, and his three siblings, Bob, Bill, and Barb. He also leaves behind his nephew, Mike, and a host of cherished friends who will miss him dearly. His life was a testament to his deep love for his family, his commitment to his community, and his ability to cherish life's moments. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit and love will continue to live on through his family and friends. His legacy is one of love, dedication, and perseverance. Rest in peace, Jim.
