James Daniel Grounds

James Daniel Grounds, 81 years old of Napa CA, passed away on August 3, 2024.

Jim was born on October 14, 1942 then adopted by Lavere and Esther Grounds in Los

Angeles, California. Jim was employed 37 years with the City of Napa's Water Division as a

Meter Mechanic. Jim met Linda through a mutual friend in 1966 and they married on 

August 5, 1967. Jim and Linda have two sons. Jim was an avid Nascar fan, loved old classic

cars and going to the local casinos. For the past 38 years they celebrated their wedding

anniversary at Hot August Nights in Reno, Nevada.

Jim is survived by his son Kenneth Grounds and his wife Lona, his son Mark Grounds.

Grandkids Tyler Grounds, Jesci Grounds, Caela Grounds, Cameron Grounds and Grace

Grounds and Great Grandson Leon Baron. Sister Janet Haney and her husband Hal, 

Sister Karen Chavez and her husband Ralph, and numerous Nieces and Nephews. Jim was

predeceased by Brother Edward Downs, his wife Claudia and Sister Peggy Downs.

Jim was fortunate enough to be found by his biological niece Mary Gonzales who initiated a

union in Naselle, Washington in April, 2019 with his siblings Edward Downs of Naselle,

Washington and Karen Chavez of Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Services will be held on August 22, 2024 at 1:00 pm at Tulocay Cemetery, 411Coombsville
