Hilda (Nita) Bonte

Hilda (Nita) Bonte passed away peacefully at her home in Napa on August 1st, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.

Nita, better known as "Mimi", "Gammy" or "Nana", was a woman way ahead of her time whose vivacious nature, intelligence and kindness touched innumerable people all over the world. Her dedication to her family and husband of 61 years is truly incredible, as is the sheer number of people from around the globe who considered her not only a true friend, but a part of their extended family. For so many former students and young people, she served as a second mother of sorts providing much needed love, support and guidance. It is a testament to her loving and sincere nature, her wit, and joyful spirit that she is so missed by so many.

The family would like to thank her caregivers, especially her dear friend Molly Tonga ("my Molly" as Nita affectionately called her) and daughters Ofa and Lusi, who spent so much time with her and became like family to all of us.

Nita is survived by her children Lynn Faga (Tino Faga, deceased) of Napa, Brent Bonte of Kentucky, and Kim Ruiz (Benny) of Napa; grandchildren Ashley (Derrick Hood) of Kentucky, Jaime Faga Fife (Michael) of Napa, Kyle Bonte of Kentucky, Captain Ryan Maroney U.S.A.F. (Jaklyn) stationed in Indiana, Michael Maroney of Napa, Gabriel Ruiz of San Diego and Adrian Ruiz of Napa; and several great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at Tulocay Cemetery on Friday, August 27th, at 1 p.m. All are welcome.

We love and miss you, Mimi. Thank you for all the unique and wonderful joys you brought to each of us.
